Jason Smith: Suns' Offseason Questions Will Start with Devin Booker

Jason Smith: “This is going to come down to not KD or Chris Paul, but Devin Booker. Booker is someone who people treat as a superstar, and there’s no question he’s a star player. But is he a guy that ‘gets his points,’ or a ‘guy who actually makes his team better’? Because there’s a difference! That’s what LeBron was like for a while, when he was pursuing the scoring title. Last year he decided that’s what he was going to do. He got his points, but the Lakers were losing. Now, LeBron has adjusted his game, and look what’s happened: he makes everybody better. I don’t know if Devin Booker makes everybody better. He’s a star player who scores a lot of points, but does he really make his team better? If he’s not, the Suns need to find a different way to reconfigure this team. It makes me think they already are, when they traded for Kevin Durant... They’ve now tried a couple of different combinations, and it’s just getting a little bit worse every year.”

Jason Smith and Mike Harmon react to the Suns being eliminated from the postseason by the Denver Nuggets. Where do the Suns go from here? Is it time to get more firepower in addition to KD, or time to move on from a big star like Devin Booker? Listen to the full segment above!
