Today on The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon, Jason and Mike react to the Patriotsβ and Mac Jones dismal performance against the Bills on Thursday Night Football. Mac Jones has played long enough prove his worth as a franchise QB, but the guys tell you why Belichick and the Patriots need to move forward from Jones.
Jason Smith: βTonight was a night New England needed to match Buffaloβs energy. Yes, the Bills defense is really good, but the Patriots defense is really good too. But you needed to score points. Itβs obvious that Mac Jones is not that guy. If youβre the Patriots, this is the night where you say βafter this year you need to move on.β You need to figure out which QB you can snatch from someoneβs team thatβs going to be the guy for the next few years. If Tom Brady wants to come back, great, but Belichick and the Patriots need to go hunting for a veteran QB.β
Mike Harmon: βI donβt think Mac Jones is awful, I just donβt think heβs the fit there. He hasnβt been healthy. But, if youβre going to do the Tom Brady thing, yeah, you can do that but for probably only a year. Then you start to look at the division and you realize success in the near future is a tall order.β
