The Dallas Mavericks overcame historically long odds and were awarded the first pick in the draft during last night’s NBA Draft Lottery and the now annual discussion claiming the process is rigged is in full swing. Doug shuts down all theories with some basic facts, including the NBA’s overriding need to keep their status as a legitimate sports league as opposed to manufactured entertainment like pro wrestling.
Doug Gottlieb: “We do realize that if the NBA had a conspiracy, and they got anybody together or even one person came up with the idea, that the NBA would run the risk of ceasing to exist as a sport. It would have to move into the WWE ‘Hey, we’re just entertainment,’ variety…you couldn’t take anything on the up-and-up that happens in the NBA. It can’t happen!”
