Mother arrested for child abuse after hitting infant to antagonize father

Broward County, FL - A South Florida woman has been arrested after she allegedly hit her 6-month-old son in the head while recording the incident to antagonize the child's father.

According to police, 19-year-old Marissa Kathai Galvin, of West Palm Beach, has been arrested on child abuse charges in Broward County after hitting the child multiple times in the head while recording the incident.

Police say on August 30th, 2021, Galvin struck the infant on both sides of his head six times, causing emotional trauma, with the intent of antagonizing the child's father.

Galvin was arrested by Broward Sheriff's Office deputies in Fort Lauderdale and charged with Aggravated Child Abuse and Child Neglect with Great Bodily Harm.

Her bond has been set at $50,000.
