Florida man who took "upskirt videos" of women at Publix arrested

Deputies arrested a man who allegedly took photos up unsuspecting women’s skirts at a Florida supermarket.

54-year-old John Mehalovich, of Windemere, was booked into the Orange County jail on Wednesday.

Police say they were called to an Orange County Publix on September 12th after a woman said she caught Mehalovich taking video up her dress.

The victim said Mehalovich had fixed his phone to the bottom of a shopping cart to take the video, but she caught him as he was trying to put the phone in his pocket.

Another witness told investigators Mehalovich was seen filming "upskirt videos" of another woman’s dress.

That witness got Mehalovich’s license plate number and provided it to deputies.

Investigators ran the plate, learning the car belonged to Mehalovich and his wife.

Arrest records show the 56-year-old was previously arrested for prowling and video voyeurism in May of 2021.

Deputies say when they spoke with Mehalovich on January 17th, he allowed them to search his phone, where police found several “upskirt” photos in a folder marked “hidden.”

Investigators also found images of “violent sexual acts against children” on the phone.

Mehalovich faces charges of possession of child pornography, video voyeurism, stalking and battery.
