Colin Cowherd: Davante Adams Trade Will Save the Jets Season

New York Jets v Las Vegas Raiders

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - NOVEMBER 12: Quarterback Aaron Rodgers #8 of the New York Jets and wide receiver Davante Adams #17 of the Las Vegas Raiders visit on the field after the Raiders' 16-12 victory over the Jets at Allegiant Stadium on November 12, 2023 in Photo: Getty Images North America

Colin Cowherd: “The New York Jets were a little desperate and I don’t think this is a bad thing. Aaron Rodgers now with Davante Adams has officially gotten everything he wanted in New York. He got Nat Hackett, Randall Cobb, Allen Lazard, Dalvin Cook, some think he got Robert Saleh fired, and now he’s got Davante Adams. Now, it’s Aaron’s team. Since leaving Green Bay, Aaron has been living his truth and it’s not been pretty. The wins are against Jacoby Brissett and Will Levis. He was awful against San Francisco, terrible against Denver, and lousy against Minnesota. Everything Aaron has wanted, he’s gotten. He’s remodeling his career, and he looks at the Jets house and realizes that the one in Green Bay he left behind was a pretty nice set up.
For years Aaron could point fingers; frugal, small market, no owner, not gonna spend the big bucks, little passive-aggressive shots, but now he’s in big city New York and the coach is fired, his buddy has been demoted, Mike Williams to blame, and now here comes Davante Adams.
After last night, Aaron is 26th in completion percentage and 26th in passer rating, and the older a quarterback gets the harder you have to work, and Aaron’s off-seasons are increasingly a darkness retreat meets Coachella. That’s not good enough.
Here is the good news... Haason Reddick might be coming, Davante Adams IS coming, and if you look at last night – they developed a run game last night, and they started using motion in the offense. Go look at the Jets schedule, 2-4 to start a season you only have an 11% chance to make the playoffs, but these are the quarterbacks they face the next two months: Justin Fields, Drake Maye, Anthony Richardson, Geno Smith, Trevor Lawrence is struggling... They do face the Texans but it’s at home on a short week for the Texans.
The other good news is last night without Hackett, with a new play designer and play-caller -- 73% pre-snap motion. That’s 3x greater than the previous week without Nat Hackett. So they have found a run game and they appear to have a competent offensive coordinator. Haason Reddick -- maybe, Devante Adams – absolutely. Despite that loss last night, I’m going to stick with my preseason prediction. Buffalo will win this division, and the Jets and the Dolphins will battle for the final playoff spot. The Adams move puts Aaron in a good mood, it helps the locker room, Adams gives them some juice, and they’ve got some Drake Mayes and Anthony Richardsons coming up with some very winnable games. I do not think the season is lost for the Jets.”

Listen to Colin Cowherd of FS1’s The Herd discuss Tuesday’s breaking news of the New York Jets acquiring former All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders, as Colin says he believes it will push the Jets into the playoffs.

Check out the segment above as Colin details why he’s not giving up on this team, citing Adams’ arrival, Haason Reddick’s potential return, and a navigable schedule as a reason to buy stock in the Jets for the rest of the season.
