LeBron James may have anointed himself “The Chosen One,” but he is still the most recognizable player in the league and the lack of a suitable successor will keep him as the face of the league as long as he wants. The NBA has been looking for someone to take the mantle but, until then, it’s still “King James” on top.
Dan Patrick: “LeBron, of all people, should understand how the media works, and he’s wanted to be the face of the NBA. Like, you can’t come out and call yourself “The King,” “The Chosen One,” take Mike’s #23; I mean let’s just stop with that. If Anthony Edwards doesn’t want to be the face of the NBA, so what? I’m OK with that. Sometimes you’re the face of the NBA without trying to be the face. LeBron was trying to be the face; he wanted to emulate Michael Jordan at every step of the way. So, LeBron is still the face of the NBA.”
