The New York Mets awarded OF Juan Soto a record-breaking, 15-year contract and opinions are divided, especially between Covino & Rich. As you can imagine, Mets fan Rich Davis is annoyingly excited while Steve Covino tries not to sound too bitter as he denounces the trend toward giant, ridiculous, overly-long contracts for superstars.
Steve Covino: “Baseball’s broken...”
Rich Davis: “Awww, wahhh!”
Steve Covino: “It’s just a little ridiculous when you’re paying this guy that much money...”
Rich Davis: “Baseball’s broken when you don’t get your guy.”
Steve Covino: “...because it’s not about winning. It’s not about winning. It’s bout out-bidding every other team at this point.”
