Rays Fall To Angels For Fifth Straight Loss

The Tampa Bay Rays (4-6) fell to the Los Angeles Angels (7-3) 4-3 on Tuesday night at Steinbrenner Field. It was the fifth straight loss for Tampa Bay, who is beginning a 13-game homestand in Tampa.

The Angels got a two-run homer from Kyren Paris in the second before the Rays rallied with three runs in the seventh to take a 3-2 lead. From there it was the Angels turn to rally - former Ray Travis d'Arnaud hit a RBI groundout in the eighth to tie it, before Luis Rengifo gave the Angels a ninth inning lead with a RBI single to make it 4-3.

Shane Baz got the start and pitched seven innings, allowing two earned runs on three hits while striking out six and walking four. Pete Fairbanks took the loss, allowing the go-ahead run on two hits in the ninth inning while striking out one.

The Rays look to snap their five-game skid when they host the Angels in the middle game of the series on Wednesday night. Ryan Pepiot (0-1, 2.45) is scheduled to start for the Rays and face Yusei Kikuchi (0-1, 4.50) for the Angels. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM on Wednesday - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting the Inside Pitch at 6:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
